There are many marked improvements to FIFA 16

Annualized franchises, especially in sports, can be tough to innovate on year after year, and iteration after iteration might feel stale or marginally enhanced. FIFA 16 takes the issues of past games and cleans them up, allowing the game to feel like a true representation of a match, while also throwing incredible depth in modes like Ultimate Team, as well as Career. The result is a complete package that doesn’t have the weird physics glitches of years past, and is an overall incredible game that will easily last to next year’s entry, and perhaps beyond. No previous game in the series has managed to achieve such a realistic balance across all areas of the pitch in the way that FIFA 16 has managed to accomplish.

While last year’s FIFA revamped the shooting and pace played a vital role, this year’s FIFA couldn’t be any more further from that if it tried. Pace is no longer as important, with EA Canada possibly nerfing it a little too much - after all, pace is a key factor in the beautiful game. It always has been, it always will be. Instead, FIFA 16 offers a more slow and methodical football game, where outsmarting your opponents is really the only true way to success. That’s not a criticism, just an observation. A criticism is that sometimes slow build up play can be a little laborious. If you want to hit a team on the counter, it’s now harder than ever.

EA have focused heavily on defensive improvements this year, and as a result, defenders now benefit from improved tackling animations, better defensive AI, and a new Defensive Agility feature that allows defenders to track skilled attackers and close them down with greater ease. Midfielders also play a much bigger role in the center of the pitch by creating build-up play and intercepting opposition passes, and wingers can use Dynamic Crossing to apply a higher degree of finesse when targeting a player in the box. Scoring goals is now a much harder task, but there’s a greater sense of satisfaction when the ball finally hits the back of the net. The new Clinical Finishing feature offers a larger variety of ways in which to score, and the addition of No Touch Dribbling allows attackers to trick their defensive counterparts in new ways.

The newly introduced Women’s football has been lauded by critics such as IGN. IGN’s review stated that this new feature isn’t simply a reskin as certain mechanics and small details are noticeable to the point that they even enjoy it more than the men’s games. “You’ll notice tangible differences when playing as women, while female players have been fully motion-captured and look authentic,” IGN wrote. The newly added Draft mode for the Fifa Ultimate Team is also a worthwhile addition according to reviewers. The FUT Draft mode is like a card based game which tasks players with building a team composed of the best players and pitting them against the enemy with a random set of cards. Gamestop clearly loved the new Draft mode and even calls it a “significant addition” to the Fifa Ultimate Team.

If you get the “FIFA 16” Deluxe Edition you will get up to two premium gold packs per week for twenty weeks. This is pretty awesome because the gold packs contain lots of things such as players, team jerseys, etc… I really enjoyed playing EA Sports “FIFA 16” Deluxe Edition for the PS4. The graphics are stunning and the players and stadiums look so realistic. It feels like watch a “FIFA” match in real life. I know I say that in just about every EA Sports title review, but it’s true. The controls were very easy to learn and I really liked the “FIFA Trainer” a lot. I had a great time playing all of the fun and exciting new game modes and the new Women’s National League was awesome.

There are many marked improvements to FIFA 16. The audio has been enhanced, especially that of the crowd. The rise and fall of cheers is evident depending on the state of the game. Visually, everything has been given an extra coat of polish making it the best looking FIFA game to date. Finally, the overhauled game play mechanics have given FIFA players a much more realistic game of football. Overall, there isn’t a whole lot to dislike about FIFA 16.
