FUT Champions is the all-new way to compete in FIFA 17 for the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles. Each week, qualify for the Weekend League and compete for in-game rewards. Consistently showcase your skill and climb the Monthly Leaderboards to earn some of the biggest in-game rewards. This time there’s another innovation that will have long-time FIFA players the most excited to use. Any FIFA 17 player can now compete to win a share of $1.3 million prize pool through the Ultimate Team Championship Series mode. EA means that “Our fans within FUT have been asking for a long time. We wanted to put in some new squad building challenges to give some interesting and cool ways to get in-game rewards. Some are puzzle challenges and others are much more simple and it will be great to see people playing these challenges for hours.”
With FUT Champions we can put in a mode with ‘Daily Tournaments’ to let you compete. If you win a ‘Daily tournament’ you get into the ‘Weekend League’. In the ‘Weekend League’ players battle for in-game items. The elite players at the top of the monthly leaderboards, based on their results, are invited to one of the six Regional Finals, with the goal of attending the FIFA Interactive World Cup (FIWC) and FUT Championship Series. The winner of the FIWC pockets $20,000, and the event is recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s largest online gaming tournament. But that award is just the tip of the iceberg.
The growing professionalism of competitive eSports has already led to major football clubs - including Manchester City, West Ham, and Sporting Lisbon - sponsoring FIFA players to represent them at tournaments. West Ham’s, Sean “Dragon” Allen, was the runner up at the 2016 FIWC, finishing second out of 1.2 million entrants. In exchange for undisclosed amounts of money, and in the case of Allen, his own official club number and jersey, clubs receive international brand exposure. While FUT Champions will allow more prospective professional players to get their names in front of clubs who could offer them contracts, another change to Ultimate Team is set to improve the overall experience for users. Here is other changes:
