FIFA 16 would be no different than fifa 15

Undoubtedly, the presentation, graphics, soundtrack and general look and feel in FIFA 16 are the as polished as ever and the pristine design of the game gives it a shiny veneer. The inclusion of all your favourite teams, countries which now include the women teams too and favourite teams has been the biggest selling point of FIFA series. This series adds more details to every players, every stadium has more detail and up to date details about team and player form. It’s a wonderful overload stats, real-time data and attention to detail. FIFA does the interface of real-time into a seamless experience for every football fan.

The kinect sensor will also work for this on Xbox One and 360 which means you not only can perform some of your own “killer moves” safely in your own home but you can also be heard. This has led to some hilarious “controller across the room” moments when you might say something offensive about how bad a players tackling skills are and watch as he walks off the pitch forcing you to make a sub. We also ended up getting a touchline ban from the FA in one career mode after swearing at a ref… Interesting and very clever but you have been warned! It looks great and is another jump up in being responsive. New women’s teams might attract more female gamers, which can only be a good thing. Other than than that it’s getting a bit samey and  I feel like I shouldn’t be forced to pay for packs on Ultimate team really.

FIFA has for many years now been the leader when it comes to football games(or soccer for our American friends), so you would assume that FIFA 16 would be no different. Since the launch of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, FIFA has gained massive amounts of market share from Pro Evolution Soccer from Konami, simply because they’ve done everything right. Has FIFA dropped the ball only for Pro Evolution Soccer to pick it up again so many years later? The PlayStation 3 version of the game also looks good, but I’d suggest upgrading to a PS4 if you really want to play the game the way the developers intended you to. The majority of the game is the same between generations, but the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game no longer include the following features; Creation Center, Custom Music and Chants, The FIFA Interactive World Cup, GameFace, Match Lobbies, Secondary English commentary with Clyde Tyldesley and Andy Townsend. The in-game presentation with Jeff Stelling has been removed from all versions of the game completely.

There’s nothing to say in this department, other than FIFA 16 remains fantastic. The commentary is as outstanding as last year; a brilliant feat in terms of contextual and fluid lines. The menu music meanwhile is a catchy pop mix as per usual. The online infrastructure on PS4 needs some work. Disconnects in Ultimate Team Divisions are commonplace, though in my experience on the Xbox One version (via EA Access), this did not occur. However, the transfer market seems to be much more stable on Sony’s platform, with players registering to one’s team immediately (whereas on Xbox it takes a long while).

There are three conditions that affect the availability of your players - contracts, fatigue and injuries. When a contract ends, you have to renew its duration with specific cards (combine categories of contracts with the same category of players for the best result). With regards to fatigue, there are also special cards that renew the energy, but another alternative is to put them in the bank for the next games. Finally, injuries. Typically, these players are left out for the duration of the injury, but you can also find cards to solve several physical problems. If you are in urgent need of one of thes cards, you can also get them via auction.

Don’t expect FIFA 16 to be better than FIFA 15, because whilst it has delivered a few gameplay changes, they aren’t all good. Most of the matches online become scrappy affairs due to the constant high pressure from most gamers. For every goal I score that makes me go ‘wow that was an awesome move’, there are literally tens of frustrating moments of random errors from players in-game and bad refereeing decisions. I have a love/hate relationship with FIFA now but it’s still the best football game out there for creating excitement, having plenty to do and the amount of official teams is superb. FIFA 16 is good, however it should be a lot better by its own standards.
