FIFA 16 has already been a new game mode
The last few seasons have been a struggle on Wearside, and plenty of good managers have all paid the price of failure. One of the most surprising aspects of the team's demise is that there are actually some fairly decent players hidden in the squad. FIFA 16 gives you the opportunity to ditch the losing mentality surrounding the club and simply play to their potential. Jeremain Lens, Jermain Defoe, Yann M'Vila and Younes Kaboul are all more than capable in the game. The EA Sports game included over 200 scanned player faces, alongside painstakingly-created virtual versions of every stadium from the English Premier League.
Also, on all versions of the game, heading the ball always netted a goal and every cross was a perfect cross. Scoring seemed too easy and playing as the women's teams resulted in gameplay that was a lot faster, while the men's teams felt sluggish. While last year's FIFA 16 was available for Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita, it looks like this year's iteration of the soccer game won't be going handheld. There's also no sign of a Wii or Wii U version. Thankfully, the loss of Courtois was made less noticeable by Jan Oblak, who has been a revelation for Atletico ever since.
The Slovenian is a dominant presence at dead ball situations, claiming the ball with good handling, reflexes and positioning, and though his diving and distribution leaves a little to be desired, he’ll grow from 81 to 86 overall, becoming a very solid addition to your squad. EA representative told PocketGamer. "We don't have any further detail on the mobile version but will be sure to share with you when we hear more.
EA's press materials make no mention of a Wii version either. This year will be the first without a Wii version since the Wii was launched. The man between the sticks is often one of the most important men on the pitch. He can be the difference between a 1-0 win and a 1-4 hammering purely by the level of his performance. Almost two months after the release of FIFA 16, players all over the world have just about finally adjusted to the new game-engine. Though pace appears to be less important in this year's edition, it can still bring devastating results when combined with unbelievable skill moves.
Add to this the fact that just getting the game - which is only available as a digital download, you can't just buy a disc and start playing - up and running on the PC was a monumental effort, and then choosing the console version seems like the obvious option. As it stands, FIFA 16 has already been able to turn heads through the addition of a new game mode. For the first time in the series’ history, women’s soccer will be included as a playable option.
Although only twelve national teams will be available, including the United States, England, and Brazil, it’s nonetheless a welcome addition to the franchise. Unfortunately, owners of Nintendo consoles looking forward to playing this new game mode may well be out of luck. It looks likely that EA Sports are going to skip releasing their upcoming soccer sim on any Nintendo consoles.
